Very Good –
1977, Box: Very Good, Contents: Good+ Box is in pretty Good repair, base has a pen price mark to rear. Lid has some tape applied to corners, subtle. One corner has split but is in decent condition. The contents are almost complete, i counted 398 chits and on the box 400 are listed. All the cards are present and the one dice. The map has been taped together and has some foxing, damp and folding wear, seems fairly rugged though overall, the corners have evidence of hanging either blutac or similar. Small piece of damage photographed on the map, the booklet has worn staples, and the handouts are in reasonable condition, both probably Good or better. there may be pencil markings but if there are they are few and far between. Tray also in great repair.

WAR OF THE RING

As Sam and Frodo, assisted by the foul creature Gollum, journey on their mission to destroy the One Ring, the mighty forces of Mordor strike Gondor. Those in the City of Minas Tirith defend valiantly against the countless thousands of the Dark Lord and victory is snatched from the enemy as the Riders of Rohan fall upon their flank and save the city.

The onslaught is renewed and the flower of the West seems bound to perish. A fleet of many ships arrive to join the battle. The banner of the King is unfurled and the defenders are filled with renewed energy as their King wreaks havoc upon the enemy. The host retreats the battle is won. Meanwhile Sam and Frodo have reached Mordor despite the ceaseless vigilance of the Nazgul and the

treachery of Gollum.

The Dark Lord gathers his forces again and the heroes of the West march out from the city to do battle at the gate of Morannon. The enemy is irresistable but in their moment of victory they throw down their arms and flees The Ringbearer has succeed- ed-Mount Doom erupts – the Ring has departed Middle Earth.

PLAYING GUIDE

WAR OF THE RING is best suited to 2 or 3 players (12 years to adult), The game averages between 1 and 3.5 hours to complete (once the rules have been digested). No previous military knowledge is required nor is it necessary to have read ‘The Lord of the Rings’ to play and enjoy the game.
